FAQs
-
The Burnout Book Club is for therapists, healthcare workers, wellness professionals, and other helping humans who need a break from work books and are ready for cozy, spicy, fiction-fueled self-care.
-
Nope! If you work in any helping, healing, or wellness-focused role (think: therapists, nurses, doctors, med students, physical therapists, etc.), you’re welcome here.
-
We lean heavily into fiction that feels like a warm (or spicy) hug: romantasy, fantasy, light sci-fi, and stories with found family, healing themes, and a little (or a lot of) spice. Basically, fiction that helps us escape burnout, not clinical reads or self-help books.
-
We meet live once a month! We read one book a month and meet for a casual, cozy group discussion (virtual for now) with vibes somewhere between bookish slumber party and professional support group. We also engage on social media and other spaces between the live events to chat all things book related!
-
We hang out, decompress, and talk about the book! It’s casual space that includes questions, laughs, favorite quotes, and space for honest and open conversations (yes, even if you didn’t finish the book—we get it).
-
We keep things cozy and connection-focused, usually around 20 people per meeting. It’s the perfect size for meaningful convo, good laughs, and space to share (or just listen in). Spots fill quickly, so be sure to sign up early!
-
Not at all. You’re welcome to just listen in and vibe quietly with your tea and your thoughts. No pressure, ever.
-
Nope! It's free to join and attend. You just need to grab the book and show up. Space is limited for each discussion, though, so signing up early is key!
-
You can sign up to make sure you receive all of the up to date information here!
-
No problem, we understand that life happens! We ask that you please let us know as soon as you can so we can offer your spot to someone on the waitlist. We appreciate the heads up! You can respond to the event invitation or email start@cccs.care.
-
Reading the book is highly encouraged. We’d love for you to at least get started so you can join in on the fun! That said, we know life happens. If you didn’t finish, you’re still totally welcome to come hang out, listen in, and connect with the group. No shame, just good vibes.
Allie Joy
Meet your host!
Allie is a Board-Certified Art Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor, and lifelong bookworm with a soft spot for magical worlds, slow burns, and fictional characters who emotionally ruin her (in the best way).
She grew up practically living in her local library where her librarian, Mrs. Smith, was one of her childhood besties. From crafting wild creations for crazy hat contests to staying up past bedtime for midnight book release parties, Allie has always been enchanted by the community and joy that books can bring.
Her reading journey started with Nancy Drew and anything else she could devour, evolved into Harry Potter and The Hunger Games era, and eventually landed her deep in the delicious world of romantasy.
These days, you’ll rarely find her without a book or Kindle in hand, and yes, she’ll absolutely try to convince you to start Throne of Glass or The Night Circus.
Through The Burnout Book Club, Allie combines her love for reading and her passion for supporting helping professionals in building community, unwinding, and escaping into stories that inspire creativity, awaken wonder, and remind us why we fell in love with reading in the first place.
